Let's Create "The Sonicals" CD Now!

In October 2016 at Sonata Piano Camp in Bennington VT, at the invitation of director Polly Van Der Linde, pianist Joel A. Martin joined the teaching faculty. Polly said, "You two have to meet, you will hit it off together!"
On his very first day Joel met George Lopez , pianist and resident artist at Bowdoin College.

That evening George gave a spectacular all-Bach concert and at the end of the concert, Joel was invited to join George to perform together. There was no music for 2 pianos available, but there was an audience in attendance waiting to hear the sonic possibilities of two pianists creating something different on the spot.

So George and Joel put their heads together, opened up some solo piano books, and proceeded to make musical magic, improvising on Bach, Beethoven and Chopin to a completely blown away audience.

The response was overwhelming. Polly proclaimed the evening as "the birth of The SONICALS" and called for another musical meeting a month later. There were only 20 people in the room but the concert was posted live on Facebook with over 2000 views.

Several concerts later, The SONICALS have created a whole new lexicon of music for 2 pianos, improvising and making solo piano music a collaborative experience.  Re-defining chamber music....

The SONICALS have been charged with the musical duty to create a CD capturing the magic of live performance and introducing it to the world.

And that brings us to our first Go Fund Me campaign to get this project off the ground.

To make superstars in the classical music world takes a good amount of money to launch. From recording the music to photo shoots, creating promotional videos, and garnering reviews, it is a large endeavor but one which we feel will grow exponentially into a worldwide career.

Funding for The SONICALS CD will be used to:

*Record George and Joel in a recording studio
*Mix and master the CD
*Replicating CD Digipacks of The SONICALS
*Shoot professional photos with world renowned photography Jimmy Williams .

We hope to exceed our target so we can hire Crossover Media in NYC, the world's best music promotions service for classical, jazz and world music, to mount a 6 month national promotional campaign.

The SONICALS plans to start recording from November 2017- January 2018 with the CD coming out in March 2018.

The SONICALS was born because of Sonata Piano Camp. The camp itself is magical as it is created by pianists, for pianists, and it truly shows the love and joy of playing the piano, which George and Joel  share everywhere they go. It is because of people like you that have given SONICALS the inspiration and determination to be better today than we were yesterday, to keep moving forward and achieving great things.

As the producer of this project and a member of the duo, I have been changed for the better, personally and spiritually, because I came to Sonata Piano Camp. I look forward to serving the needs of pianists in the future, and sharing the good news that live music and art through this new duo is alive and doing well.  I thank you all as well as the many people my music as a solo pianist have touched over the years.  To me this is all a logical progression, expanding the boundaries of the piano, finding like-minded visionaries who are unafraid to take chances to make art accessible to all people. I found this in my musical partner and great friend George Lopez. Now we are ready to roll with it.

Your help will enable us to continue the good work, and the absolute JOY of creating live music. Your help will make us living examples of what the possibilities are for making music at the highest level. Your passion for piano and music will grow, and that energy will fuel our passions!

We thank you for your consideration in this CD project and we hope you will join us as we reach for the stars, together!

Sincerely,

The SONICALS
