The Egoli Project
The IES Capetown, South Africa students are working to raise money and resources for the informal settlement called Egoli, meaning the land of Gold.
People have lived in Egoli for about forty years. They consider it home but face many challenges. They live in shacks built out of whatever materials they can find, in close proximity to one another. Electricity is expensive and not something that everyone in the community can afford. Plumbing, likewise, is an issue; sanitation becomes a huge problem as multiple families share one toilet or continue to rely on the bucket system. In short, there is no end to the things you could do to help.
We are aiming to raise $1000 to aid in providing food, clothing, and resources to the Egoli Community. So to all our friends, family, colleagues, and peers at our respective universities and beyond, please help us in our cause.
