As I am sure many of you know, last weekend our hometown of Dickinson Texas was slammed with the most catastrophic flooding event in recorded history. My best friend Melissa and her two babies, Bennett and Bailey, were at  home when their house started flooding at 2am on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Melissa's husband Anthony was out of town at the time for work. As the water started to rise, naturally, Melissa's first thought was to get her babies to safety. But they were trapped.  The water is steadily rising at this point. When 911 was finally reached, they had decided the safest way to rescue them would be to airlift her and her babies to safety. However, it was soon discovered that the dense tree line that surrounds  their house made it impossible for a helicopter to access. So a boat was sent. After two harrowing hours, the boat finally made it, and they were pulled from the rising waters.  As relieving as this may sound, they've still lost everything. Their home, underwater. Their children, without the basics. To add salt to the wound, their insurance company failed to add their flood insurance to escrow, therefore, is denying them coverage for everything they've lost. This will surely cause a lengthy and costly legal battle with their insurance company. We are not asking for much, as we know there are thousands of people in similar situations. But, as cliche as this sounds, anything helps. Please consider helping this sweet, loving family in this time of crisis.
