The Xunaan Ha Expedition is the first of its kind, an all-female cave diving exploration group made up of some of the most impressive technical divers and explorers in the game today! Hailing from all over the world, they each bring an invaluable piece to the team. Led by Robbie Schmittner who is responsible for connecting the largest underwater cave system on the planet, they will embark on a two week expedition deep in the jungle of the Yucatán Peninsula where they will explore a series of undiscovered caves in an effort to extend what is known to us as the longest water-filled cave system.
We have started this Go Fund Me to support what will be a historic expedition. Funds we are able to raise will help make this possible by supporting everything from assembling the team to allowing us to document the process! Including a 5 day setup period and 5 day period post-diving that we will use to finish all of our mapping, the expedition will actually run for an unofficial total of 24 days. During the 14 days of diving, with 7 explorers and a support staff of 9 individuals, it costs us a rough approximate of $223 per person per day equaling $49,952. Throw in the 10 days of prep and wrap up work at $170 a day for the 7 explorers ($11,900), and our grand total for the entirety of the expedition is $61,852.
All supporters of the Xunaan Ha Expedition will get an exclusive front-row virtual seat of the exploration as it is prepared and underway. How? We will add you to a mailing list and send you the passwords for video footage before, during and after the expedition where you will get insider information about the caves discovered, pro tips from some of the best in the biz and tons of other fun stuff.
All funds raised will be put exclusively towards exploration and further research of the Yucatán aquifer and cave system. None of the funds raised will be used to pay salaries or compensate beyond the specific expedition and further exploration.
