Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Whitlock & Jay Street Cafe in Katonah, NY will be temporarily closed until further notice. We are all in an unimaginable situation, but we know that the best thing is to protect ourselves, our families, and our community by staying home. The impact this virus will have on our industry may be irreparable.
After being forced to make the heartbreaking decision to lay-off our staff, they returned to work the next day knowing we couldn’t afford to pay them much longer, to help clean out our walk-ins of all perishables to prep and cook soup for Million Gallons* , a local organization that will provide soup to hospitality workers and their families in need in Westchester County. This is what we do. We may be down, but we rally together to bring comfort the only way we know how, through food. We love caring for others. It's who we are and we won't ever stop. We are committed to doing everything and anything we can to having our restaurants and our staff waiting for the community on the other side of all of this.
Our community, guests, and regulars, some of which have become like family, requested we start a GoFundMe page for our front and back of house staff at The Whitlock and Jay Street Cafe, who will be out of work for an undetermined period of time. We’re overwhelmed with gratitude at the thought of your kindness. As of today, GoFundMe has now offered a $500 donation to qualifying small businesses who start a campaign, so we are shifting our efforts from PayPal gifts to this site. Any donation will go directly to staff and their needs in the coming weeks. We don’t know what lies ahead, but your support has sustained our faith in the future of our little restaurants.
