The West Coast Crunch

Donation protected
Hey there!

Our names are Cian Murphy and Cathal Mongey, and we are two 21 year-old amateur cyclists planning on taking on the West Coast of Ireland in a 900-kilometre cycle in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

Our journey will begin towards the end of July, when we will cycle from the most Southerly point of Ireland (Mizen Head) up the West coast until we reach the country's most Northerly point, Malin Head. We hope to complete our cycle over two-to-three weeks but will grind it out for as long as it takes to complete our goal!

The Irish Cancer Society is a charity that is very close to both of our hearts, as we have both seen the incredible support that the society provides patients and their families across Ireland. Cian's father, Vic, passed away in mid-March, following a four-year battle with cancer. Throughout this time, the Cancer Society provided invaluable support for him and his family.

Charities such as the Irish Cancer Society have been heavily impacted by the current health crisis of CoVid-19. We feel that it is so important for us to reach out to them in their time of need, as they have done for so many families in Ireland. This year, the Irish Cancer Society were forced to cancel their annual fundraising day, Daffodil Day, costing the charity an estimated €4 million.  With more people being diagnosed with cancer in Ireland than ever before, they need our help more than ever to continue their necessary work.

How can you help?
Any donation that you choose to make, no matter how big or small, will be massively appreciated by us and the Irish Cancer Society.

If you live near the West Coast and can offer us a roof over our heads (we’ll have sleeping bags!) or a garden to pitch our tent in, please reach out by sending a message to our Facebook or Instagram pages - any kind of floor space or shelter will be a huge help! Our whole trip will be in accordance with the CoVid-19 guidelines and we will ensure that precaution will be taken at all times throughout our trip.

You can follow our journey on our Instagram page @thewestcoastcrunch and Our Facebook page 'The West Coast Crunch'. We will be posting everything here from along the way and greatly appreciate anybody who can follow or share the page!

Cian and Cathal.
