The Way Things Were Art Exhibition

Curator Thomas James, founder & director of The Drasil Group, LLC., is bringing artwork straight from the Middle East right here to our nation’s capital. We are seeking contributions for expenses associated with producing the exhibition, “Hashim Al-Samarraie: The Way Things Were.” This showing is scheduled to be on display and open to the public from June 1 - 29 at Gallery Al Quds and then at Syra Arts in August.
As one of Baghdad’s premier fine artists, Hashim Al- Samarraie, captures Iraqi and Kurdish culture through his unparalleled sensitivity to emotion and detail.
For a long time Hashim has had a dream of having his artwork showcased in the United States, but has not had the opportunity to do so until recently. With the struggle to support himself and his family, Hashim has had difficulty raising the funds necessary to execute an exhibition of his work in the United States. We ask that you make a donation to help bring this exhibition to life and assist in Hashim’s travel from Iraq, so he can witness his creation in full form. To read Hashim's full bio CLICK HERE.
The Drasil Group is seeking to raise $4,500 in contributions to produce the exhibition’s major expenses including: shipping and travel costs of artwork, framing and stretching of artwork, Hashim’s travel expenses, installation equipment, event space, and marketing materials.
Prided on producing quality exhibitions, The Drasil Group focuses not only on visual appeal and generating revenue but also on education, learning, dialogue and interaction. This has been shown when working with organizations including The Phillips Collection, The ArtReach Gallery, and Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts to put on exhibitions such as Darkest Before the Dawn (2017) and Belonging: Stories from The Seafarers Yacht Club of Washington, DC (2018).
