The Velazquez’s Struggle for Life Against Covid
My loving parents, Mark and Hortencia Velazquez, had been fighting Covid-19 since 12/1/20. Since then they have dealt with the nightmarish symptoms without getting ahead. We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated to say the least...
As strong willed as they have always been, shortness of breath was one symptoms Hortencia just could not go up against on her own. She went into the ER and was admitted on 12/13 /20. The oxygen she needed to sustain her lungs keep increasing everyday.
Mark, was so devastated to know that they were apart and he couldn’t do anything about assisting the “Love of his life.” They had never been apart and he would sob wondering how she was doing. He felt lost without her, while struggling with his own challenges against Covid-19.
Mark has always been a fighter against ailments. But two days after mom was admitted, he felt the shortness of breath too. I got the call at 1 am and rushed him to the ER as well. I stayed with him as long as I could until they wheeled him away with tears in his eyes knowing we would not see one another for a while.
Yesterday, both of my parents had to be intubated (placed on ventilators), we don’t know how long they will be on them, or if they will be able to come out of their sedations intact. Covid is actively still trying to hijack their lungs but we are praying for a miracle from our BelovedHoly Father Almighty!
We have requested that our mother be transported to the same hospital now that a bed has opened up at Dad’s location. He wanted us to do it (Bring him his “Mona”), and we promised him we would, the night before he had to be intubated.
