The VB's Medical Fund for Dog Elsa

Donation protected
Elsa, a purebreed Cocker Spaniel, had been our dog for only five years (she was only 5 years old) until August 1, 2017 when we had to put her down after a few surgeries and complications.  Elsa was my older sister Lara's dog, whom was like a child to her.

This summer Elsa experienced a few ups and downs, momennts when we could tell something wasn't quite right, but the Vet could only conclude that it was her neck giving her problems.  After she and my mother spent nearly $1,200 on testing and medicine for Elsa, the Vet determined that she had liver disease.  During the second half of July Elsa took a turn for the worst.

For an entire weekend, Elsa barely moved and ate/drank very little.  We could tell her medicine was only making her worse.  Then, we decided to take her to the emergency pet hospital (July 23). That night we received the devastating news that Elsa would not make it another day unless we went through with the surgery.  The hospital quoted us between $6,000 to $10,000 adding that a dog had just been in for the same procedure.  We knew how much Elsa meant to my older sister Lara, so we all encouraged her to go through with the surgery because 1) she was still so young and 2) we would be there for her.

After seven days in the hospital having had her gall bladder rupture during surgery along with a piece of her liver being taken out, Elsa was allowed to come home. Unfortunately, her first night home was nothing but pleasant. We had to take her back to the hospital in the middle of the night. Then, we received the call at 4:00 AM on August 1, 2017 that Elsa would not make it unless we invested an additional $10,000, but with the bill being $11,000 already, we knew we couldn't afford it (let alone afford what had already been charged).  So, Elsa was put to sleep. My sister awoke me crying as she delivered the bad news.

Not only do we no longer have Elsa, but we have a bill to pay for which will take years to pay off.  As such, I am asking for a small donation from anyone that would like to help our family pay off this bill and begin the healing process.  Thank you for your time and consideration for our cause.
