In Loving Memory of James E. Daughrity
July 7, 1960 – October 25, 2024
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of my sister’s father, James E. Daughrity, who left us unexpectedly on October 25, 2024.
Born in Sumter, South Carolina, James always found his way back home, holding deep roots in the community where he was once well-loved. He was a master plumber, known for his incredible skill and problem-solving abilities. He was smart, curious, adventurous, and had dreams of traveling the world. Above all, he was a kind man who never met a stranger, always willing to share a conversation or lend a helping hand. His faith in God carried him through life’s hardships, including surviving an aneurysm and battling lifelong mental health struggles. Though his journey was seldom easy, he had a good heart and a soul that sought connection with others.
James is survived by his two daughters, Kayla Ferguson and Heather Hudson; two sisters Lynn Otto and Paula Davis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Unfortunately, James passed without life insurance or financial preparations for end-of-life expenses. My sister and I have taken on the financial burden of covering his cremation and estate matters at a tumultuous time in our lives when we are already struggling to make ends meet ourselves. To help ease the unexpected hardship, we have created a GoFundMe to assist with these costs. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we work to honor Kayla’s father’s memory while navigating this difficult time.
We deeply appreciate the love, prayers, and support from friends, family, and the community during this time. James may be gone, but his spirit will forever live on in my sister, who is the most precious person to me on this earth, and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
