The Ultimate Christmas Gift

While most of us are busy preparing for Christmas festivities, there are too many of our brothers and sisters around the world who will struggle to put food on their table, much less, line their Christmas tree with tinsels and ornaments.

My wife and I were privileged to join Aussie Friends of the Poor on a recent mission trip to Cebu, Philippines to experience, first-hand, the desperate and inconceivable plight of the poorest of the poor. Nothing could’ve prepared us for what we experienced. Nothing will ever depict the horrendous conditions and struggles these people endure on a daily basis. These are people who live in cemeteries because there is no other shelter. These are people who live in rubbish dump sites and encourage their children, as young as three years of age, to scavenge the garbage to find any semblance of food or clothing. These are families who live in shanty towns with no water, sewage and are exposed to unfathomable diseases.

They need our help.

Aussie Friends of the Poor have created an initiative designed to feed 700 families for four days leading into Christmas. Our target areas are – Cemetery village, Dump site village and Shanty Town.

Just $12 can provide one family with:

·       5kg of Rice,

·       A six-pack of Noodles and

·       5 tins of Corn beef. 

But we must act now in order to arrange the delivery to their place of residence.
