We are the Sabean Mandaean sect, we follow “Adam The first human being” and John the Baptist is our last prophet and teacher.

We lived in Mesopotamia since the beginning of the dynasties, thousands of years ago. The DNA tests proved that we are the last of the Sumerian dynasty. Because of the known conditions in Iraq, we had no choice but to immigrate and that dispersed us into groups around the world. Every group ended up in a different country, sometimes groups in the same country which has a large geographical area.

We carry a great legacy, therefore every group that settled in a country started working to preserve our religion and nationalism from assimilating into the new society.

Since bout 12 to 13 years ago, the Mandean families started immigrating to Worcester Massachusetts. The Mandean community in Worcester Massachusetts started growing and extend its roots into this lovable land. We felt the need to building components that preserve and maintain our nationalism so we have established more than one nonprofit charitable organization believing in aiding every refugee that arrives in our city while preserving the organization’s priorities in establishing and presenting the Mandean nationalism to the American society in an honorable manner. We started providing completely free services to the refugees in Worcester city with an 8hours work shift, 5 days a week. Our staff worked completely for free. We continued in this manner for years. As a result of thriving and working, we obtained the exemption requirements for organizations under internal revenue code section 501c3

 

Of course, we do not forget the great emotional and practical help given to us by Mr. “Juan Gomez” the president and chief executive officer of the organization of “Centro Las Americas” as he gave us the big hall on Sunday mornings, an office to practice our work, and last but not least he let us use the facilities of the building completely for free.

 



 

As days went by the need of buying a building became urgent. A building as a temple to practice our religious ceremonies, and most importantly baptizing. Considering the cold weather for the most part of the year in Massachusetts we cannot baptize in the river. For your information and to be clear, baptizing is an essential pillar in the Mandean religion, and it is one of the ceremonies that we keep practicing, not a one-time thing. We also need a place that has a school for our Mandean community to meet and to teach our children the principles and fundamentals of the Mandean religion.


We joined forces and collected donations from the Mandean Families. We gathered an amount of about $120,000 as of October, 25th, 2020. Because a stadium being built for the red socks team near Kelly square in Worcester, it caused the prices of the real estate to double or triple which made an amount of $500,000 barely adequate to buy a building.
