We live in a time defined by urgency. The STOKE Collective helps progressive and radical organizations slow down and tend to the foundation of justice work: people. We are a collective of facilitators, educators, organizers, and changemakers who believe that relationships and relational practices are the fuel for building power, creative strategy, and resilience. We know that solid relational practices are crucial for effectiveness, whether you’re building a movement, developing a coalition, transforming an institution, or gathering people in your community.
STOKE sets out to build long-term collaborators instead of short-term clients. Our approach is customized to the specific needs of our partnerships, which are cultivated with time and intention. Each project is developed based on a grounded understanding of local context. We share with our partners tools and practices to develop organizational cultures that are supportive, just, and deeply accountable to their people. We accompany our partners for as long as the work requires.
We are fundraising to help support our work. A central tenet of STOKE is to build the power and skills of people most directly affected by injustice and violence. We practice this by offering our services, which range from workshops and trainings to long-term organizational and project development, on a wide sliding scale. We know from years of experience that many of the groups doing the most crucial work of holding communities together through shifting struggles are not formalized or organized in a way that is legible to traditional funders. The groups that most need flexible support tailored to their contexts rarely have the funds to pay for it. Your donations will pay for STOKE’s projects to work with such groups.
