The Speedbird Collection

Donation protected

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read my fundraising page.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Juke. I have been passionately collecting all things related to British Airways and it’s predecessors for the last 22 years, preserving and recording the history of our national carrier. The collection covers Imperial Airways, BOAC, BEA, British Airways, British Caledonian Airways and Dan Air. From sick bags to cabin seats, uniforms to tea spoons.

I have flown as cabin crew since I was 18 and I am currently on furlough. I have used much of this time to organise the collection and obtain more items through various donations from ex and current staff. The ultimate goal is a museum or at the very least a temporary display so the collection can be enjoyed. I’ve always lived by the phrase ‘baby steps’ and this is going to take a lot of work and a lot of money!

I am asking for your support towards funding which will be used in the following ways (dependant on how much is raised):

* Preserving  the collection and obtaining significant additions.

* Finding a suitable venue for a permanent or semi permanent display.

* Repairs/ restoration to some of the uniforms and models.

I was recently offered a collection of BOAC items covering much of the airlines history which would make a welcome and valued edition to the collection and part of the funds will be used to obtain this if possible. That is why I have put the target at £2,000 as I feel this is more achievable.

I want to keep this fund as transparent as possible and will keep you updated with developments and what the funds are used for along with copies of all bills/ receipts which will be available to you should you wish to see them.

It would mean a lot to me to know that other people share in my dream of a museum/ display that promotes the history of one of our most iconic brands with a truthful, unreserved and passionate approach. I want those who view the collection to be taken on a journey through the airlines highs and lows, through the eyes of the people that knew it best, it’s staff.

Whether it’s 50p or £50, thank you so much for your donation and your faith in me and this project.

Best wishes,

Juke Dilliway
