Hello All. We are the Sims Family located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. We have recently lost our home due to flooding from Hurricane Ian. While the structure is still there, everything inside the home was damaged.

Our family not only includes my wife Audra, my son Reid and myself...on the same street and location, we also have my sister-in-law Kim and my mother-in-law Sandy. Kim also lost her home to the flooding. My mother-in-law, who has been very helpful in our life, has total loss of her home and her car.

We are all safe and are getting through this trying time in life. We are very blessed to be alive and well.

We have reached out to FEMA for help and our insurance company. But due to certain aspects of the system, we will not get that much assistance. Our town of New Smyrna beach is competing with the total devastation of the west side of Florida and Puerto Rico and other GLOBAL interests.

If donated, the money we raise will first go to my Mother in Law for a new home and a new car. Sandy is a great mother-in-law and has done so much for us. Helping her is one of the first things we will do. My sister-in-law lives down the street and lost everything in her home. She is single and doesn't have anyone to help her do the things needed to clean out her house, much less rebuild.

We will use the money raised to rebuild our home. We love our home and our town and do not plan on moving. This storm was a "perfect storm" for our area. It dumped over 20" of rain in 24hrs. The water simply had no place to go.

We are a strong family and can get through anything! Regardless of the funds raised, we will be OK. We do not like asking for help, but sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees...so while life has taken away a lot, and we are making small victories each day, there is a long road ahead to complete recovery.
