I recently returned from a life-changing mission trip to an orphanage in Liberia with Global First Responder's, a nonprofit founded by my brother right here in Columbia, MO. Our mission: providing essential medical aid and renovating an orphanage in Toudee, Liberia, in partnership with Cooperative Aid Inc. During our journey, we encountered an extraordinary young man named Sidiki Blayday Kromah. Not only did Sidiki impress us as a compassionate individual, but also as a dedicated student and aspiring athlete. His commitment shines through as he volunteers at the orphanage and assisted our team in various ways. Sidiki's potential caught our attention, and we connected him with the soccer coach and staff at Columbia College in Columbia, MO. Their instant connection led to a remarkable opportunity—a scholarship! Sidiki's excitement is palpable; this is his once-in-a-lifetime chance! Our efforts spanned 4 months, but an unexpected hurdle emerged. Sidiki's visa application was denied by the US embassy, threatening to shatter his dreams. In the eleventh hour, with the help of U.S. House of Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer and his outstanding staff, the US Embassy in Liberia came through. Sidiki's visa was granted! Now, Sidiki is set to arrive in Columbia on August 24th, ready to begin his college journey at Columbia College. He carries two suitcases—one filled with his belongings and the other with dreams that stretch beyond horizons. His mother, immensely proud, will remain in Liberia as Sidiki embarks on this adventure. But Sidiki needs our support. As he steps onto American soil, he faces expenses that go beyond his dreams. Let's rally together and ensure he has a smooth start: 1. Airline tickets to reach his destination. 2. Visa expenses to make his journey official. 3. School laptop and phone to aid his studies. 4. Health insurance for his well-being. 5. Daily essentials for his dorm room and life. 6. Most importantly, let's cheer him on as he joins the Cougars on the field! Sidiki's journey is a testament to perseverance, collaboration, and the power of community. Let's unite to provide him with the tools and support he needs to seize this incredible opportunity.
