The See Through Initiative Start Up

Hello family and friends,

As many of you know I have been drawn to start helping other people through being a mental health advocate. I recently started The See Through Initiative as my way of sharing the lessons I have gained through my own personal life experience.

Having a creative mind I use writing as a form of coping with the "demons" inside of my head. I feel as though my mind never stops racing at times and it brings amazing writing to the table when I need to vent to myself. Through this I had an idea to create an anthology filled with stories relating to mental health, loss tragedy and more.

From there I decided to start The See Through Initiative. My goals with The See Through Initiative are to become a new lifestyle and resource for others suffering with Mental Health. Through mental health awareness events and workshops I hope to be able to make a difference in many peoples lives.

Our very first awareness event was held on April 6th 2019, in Winnipeg's Downtown Exchange District. Volunteers and myself hit the streets to hand out brochures to local businesses to make ourselves known. The response was incredible, almost every individual we spoke with had in some form or another been affected by a mental illness.

I am reaching out because I truthfully believe I am at a point with The See Through Initiative to take it to the next step, I am looking to register as a Non-Profit Organization.

Mental health is extremely important and vastly not spoken upon. We believe that by using creative outlets we may be able to help like-minded individuals find new coping mechanisms, outlets, resources and tools through others by starting the discussion.

On our website we are currently working on a new video series called “The Unspoken Reality.” This is a volunteer based video series where individuals can discuss what works for them when struggling day to day. Our hope is that people can watch these videos and take something away from it to better their own personal struggles.

In the near future we hope to be able to do to seminars and workshops on improving mental health through easy coping mechanisms that people can work towards daily, we also would like to hold mental health awareness events and gatherings to bring people together on a more frequent bases. The go fund me will provide the starting fees to enable us to reach more people and have a name for ourselves. Apart of our goals is not only to help people who struggle with mental health, but every day struggles. Through this we have created take home materials for our seminars that require funding to put together.

Any donations received will be used towards registering the organization. Any additional money will used to fund mental health awareness events and promotional details.

Thank you in advance to everyone who can be an advocate in my journey to helping others.
