Send Cheyenne to The Scripps National Spelling Bee

When Cheyenne was just 8-years old and in 3rd grade, she won her first school spelling bee!  Cheyenne went on to win her Jefferson County Regional Bee, and was the youngest qualifier at the 2014 Colorado State Championship Finals that same year, the first year they included a written spelling and vocabulary test.  She has been competing in spelling bees ever since with the dream to win an all expense paid trip to compete near Washington D.C. at The Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Although she has won 4 School Spelling Bees, 5 District Spelling Bees, 3 Arvada Harvest Festival Spelling Bees, participated in the Dinosaur Ridge Scientific Spelling Stomp (most recently finishing 3rd with a peer competing against adults), and qualified for the Colorado State Championship Finals 4 years (always finishing in top 20 and top 10 the last 2 years), she has not accomplished her far-reaching goal...to spell at nationals!

Now she is 13 and in 8th grade, and it is her FINAL opportunity to go to nationals.  She has had loving support from, family, friends, teachers, and community members who have studied with her and cheered her on over the last 6 years.  Imagine all the work she has put in over the years (almost half of her life, ha!), which may have finally paid off, because guess what?!! On March 27, 2019 she received an exciting email from the RSVBee Program:  an official invitation to the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee to compete in the national finals!

However, since she did not win her state finals, the email clearly states that she will need to independently come up with the funds for her participation fee ($1500), travel($?), lodging($2000), meal expenses($600), and any other incidentals during Bee Week in order for her to go.

Will you please consider helping her go or lead us to a community member or business that might want to provide sponsorship for this type of endeavor?

With the help from generous donations through here, she paid the $1500 registration fee before her slot was filled, and is officially registered!  Her dad found her very reasonable airfare, and she continues her fundraising effort to reserve a 6-night stay at the official Bee Week hotel ($2000).  She is over half way to reaching her goal...and plans to sell brownies ala mode at Fuzzy's in Bradburn on May 12th from 5:30-7:30 (more details to come)!  Thank you to everyone who has supported her so far!

Besides being a top speller, Cheyenne is a straight-A middle school student, who will start high school next year in a STEM program.  She participates and excels in a variety of school and community activities, including competitive volleyball and violin.  She even started volunteering as an assistant volleyball coach for a  2nd-4th grade team this season.  If you want to know more about our speller's educational aspirations, we'd be happy to share why this is such a big deal for her to represent her school, her community, and her family.  Please feel free to email questions to [email redacted].

Cheyenne has a bright future, and your financial support to help get her to the National Spelling Bee, her 6-year long dream, would help make it even brighter!  Thank you so much for considering!
