The Salas House Fund

With the help from Carlos's VA benefits we have moved forward on purchasing our first house. After years of renting in the Oak Cliff area, we find ourselves with a deadline to move as our current landlord wants to sell the house we've been living in for almost 5 years. He is asking far more than we can afford so we are forced to move by Dec 31.

We are sad to have to leave our neighborhood but have found a house not too far away from where we are now. 

We are moving quickly on this house, but are short $2700 for the final move in costs. We have one month to come up with this or we will lose this opportunity. 
We have already recieved generous donations from some friends that have made this amount smaller and more do-able, but with a very high rent at our current home we are barely able to scrape by. 

Carlos and I don't like to ask for help.  We  know times are hard and we are all just barely making it. This move is necessary otherwise we wouldn't ask. We both work full time jobs but can barely make ends meet with the raising of the rent we've dealth with. We have been active members in our community and have helped our fellow artists, poets and friends in any way we can. We've opened our home for events, fed people when they were hungry and gave them a sofa to sleep on when they were homeless or traveling. We've given what we've had at all times freely. We hope we can move into this new house and continue to offer these things to the community. 

If you can spare a few dollars to help us meet this goal we would appreciate it.
