I believe my purpose is to create. For the last 3 years, I have devoted my life to creating, and I intend to do it until my last breath. The most beautiful part about it is how much I have developed a love to create with others, and inspire others to believe in themselves as creators. In discovering this love, I have decided to commit to paying it forward in the development of this project. I am launching the Ruth L. Holley Design Studio, in memory of the great woman that raised me, to serve as a vessel for the creatives of Western New York and the surrounding areas.
I am calling on the community again, as I have in the past, to help establish this goal and make the dream come true. As many of us know, art is an expensive field. Aside from landing the wonderful space we are looking to set up shop in, we will be looking to obtain not only the equipment necessary, but the other tools, and materials that will be used.
A brief overview of our mission and objectives:
The Ruth will serve mainly as a space for aspiring fashion designers to utilize through subscriptions and open lab hours, but it will operate as a sewing school and workshop space for beginner to novice level creatives looking to advance in the crafts associated with design and styling.
Through our offering, The Ruth will serve not only as a showroom for our designs, but as a service provider for those looking to get work done (i.e. custom garments, alterations, and samples). We also intend to serve as a gallery space for aspiring visual artists of all mediums. As fashion is continuously inspired by the arts, we look to showcase work of painters, photographers, and other artists regularly.
I will be forever grateful for what the community has done for me in the past, which is the main reason why I have decided to take this route again. For some reason, every time I decide to launch a campaign I end up seeing it through, and it always works out. A friend of mine told me that there are many who believe in me, so I decided this was something I just needed to go ahead and launch. If one of those believers happens to be you, please take a second to share the story, and if you are blessed enough to contribute, please do.
