Kevon Davenport has earned a spot on the USA World Team to compete as a cadet in the Pan Am Games in Argentina from July 3rd thru 10th. Kevon earned this spot by having a stellar performance at the UWW World Team Trials in Akron, Ohio. Kevon is the reigning 2016 and 2017 MHSAA Division 1 Wrestling State Champion at 119lbs and 130lbs respectively. His team, Detroit Catholic Central would tie their own record of 5 Individual State Champions on this day and the Shamrocks also won the 2017 Team Championship.

2011 and 2014 Grappler Fall Classic Champion

His accomplishments are just as impressive in freestyle and greco as he has won multiple state championships in these styles as well and is the current Central Regional Champion in both freestyle and greco at 138lbs.
By winning The Freestyle and Greco State Titles, Kevon has earned a spot on the dual team and will compete with his team nationally in Freestyle and Greco wrestling duals this June in Pennsylvania and also for Individual National title this July in Fargo, North Dakota. Kevon has showed a high level of dedication, commitment and sacrifice along the way to which we are proud of his accomplishments. To God Be The Glory
The purpose of this letter is to identify this young man as an official member of "The World Team" and “Team Michigan” for the summer of 2017 and attest to the fact that funds raised will go directly towards his expenses. The total cost for this year’s Pan Am Games, Dual and Individual competition combined will be in the neighborhood of $5000.00. This includes registration, gear, transportation, camps/training, housing, food and coaching. Fundraising for this event is extremely important so that this young man may have the opportunity to represent himself, his community, his state and his country on the national stage.
Michigan USA Wrestling is grateful for your support of our young athletes. USA Wrestling is the official Olympic body of wrestling, many young athletes who have competed at these events have gone on to college and Olympic fame.
