Our story...

On Sunday October 15th, 2017 my loving parents were in a devastating car accident. They were on their way home from church when my father's car suddenly began shaking violently causing them to lose control. A tractor trailer that was riding behind them moved away to avoid the car as he noticed the erratic movement. But just as he moved to avoid them, their car swerved and went directly beneath the trailer trapping and dragging them 300 hundred feet just before the truck's tires. When the truck came to a stop, my parents were pinned beneath unable to move. This is when several angels came to their rescue on the highway.

Our mother, 82 yrs old, and father (about to turn 80) were helplessly trapped in a nightmare scenario. The tractor trailer was a tanker. No one knew if it would explode. But the kindness and love of these amazing individuals came to their aid when fear should have held anyone who saw the scene, away in terror. These amazing angels gathered under the truck while it was smoking black smoke and one by one they pulled my mother through the window of the crushed vehicle and then my father by smashing the rear window and cutting him free from his seatbelt. He was pinned beneath the steering wheel and the roof had collapsed over him, but somehow these persistent angels managed to get him loose just as the fire began under the front end of their truck. They saved their lives and our family is eternally grateful.

Our GoFund is being set up to help with our parent's medical needs. We have seen a tremendous outpouring of love from our community and prayers that have been, in short, miraculous. We know rough times are ahead.

Our father sustained fractured ribs, a broken lower lumbar, and his body is covered with large hematoma and cuts. Our already frail little mother sustained serious head trauma and was rushed into surgery to remove bleeding from a clot that developed as she arrived at the hospital. She also has a broken clavicle with major cuts and hematoma all over her body. She has spent the first few days of her time in the hospital under sedation to keep her stable as she could not be moved while the swelling in her brain heals. We have faith she will come through whole when she is fully revived.

With the help and prayers of our loving friends and family we have stayed sane throughout this nightmare. We believe in the goodness of those with an altruistic calling to help others and that is why we are reaching out to our community for help. Because it was our community that saved their lives. We are proud to live in this great country where people with amazing selflessness and love for their fellow man still exist.

We ask for your financial help with hope and humility. Any donation will go towards their medical bills and treatment. We thank you for all the love, kindness and prayers we've received already. Thank you to those who help us care for our loving parents that have done so much for their children. We are eternally grateful.

Sincerely - The Rivera family
