Doug Kudwa is a determined man…a fighter, and a survivor. Anyone who knows him, knows this about him. It’s impressive. What you may not know is that he and Sandra need help right now.
Two days before Christmas Doug had a very severe heart attack and almost died. Thankfully he survived, but he has a long road to recovery. For the second time in his life he is facing extended rehab. The first time, in 2002, he needed various forms of rehab for 3 years after falling 23 feet down an elevator shaft. That time insurance covered most of his expenses, this time it doesn’t. So, Doug and Sandra face this very uncertain future with the added burden of a possible financial calamity.
Nobody knows how well Doug will recover or how quickly. But it is likely to take enough time to accumulate extensive personal expense. Doug and Sandra will have to pay $200 per day for him to stay in a rehab facility, plus the cost of prescription drugs. If his stay is more than 100 days, the daily cost will skyrocket to $1,000.
When Doug is able to go home, there will be added costs of medical equipment, possible renovations for handicapped accessibility and, until Doug is fully recovered, nursing care when Sandra is working daily at the Better Business Bureau.
Doug is a proud man with a gentle spirit and an incredible will to live. If anybody can overcome the medical obstacles he faces, it’s Doug.
But he and Sandra can’t beat the financial obstacles alone. They need our help, and they need it now.
