The Reno Burrito Project Needs Your Help!

In its two years of existence, the Reno Burrito Project has experienced astounding growth. What started as a weekly one person, four burrito operation has transitioned into a weekly 600 burrito, 20+ volunteer operation, with a total distribution of over 35,000 burritos and countless amounts of other desired items, including shoes, jackets, and hygiene kits. Furthermore, the Project has also recently become an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been working with local businesses to continue to expand into other ways to be of service to the local community. The significant growth of the project is a result of strong local community involvement, with cumulatively over 700 volunteers helping out over this two year period!

Until recently, the Reno Burrito Project has operated out of the kitchen of the founder’s residence, thanks to the graciousness of his landlord. However, this arrangement is now coming to an end, as the Reno Burrito Project has outgrown the space. To continue with the community-driven growth, the Project will be transitioning to a new location, which unfortunately means that there will be a significant increase in costs to support this new space. We are holding this fundraiser as a way to support the transition to this new space, which will allow us to continue weekly distribution of 600 burritos, as well as to continue to expand in new ways to be of service to the local community.

Although the material items that we distribute are important, we pride ourselves most on the community we have created, with the burrito distribution simply as the means for making this human connection. The community now includes an extensive network of people, from volunteers and houseless folks to cooks and family owned local businesses. From young to old, from regular volunteers to those who come when they can, Reno Burrito Project welcomes everyone.
