The Redpath Family

The Perfect storm:

EDIT: We originally launched this GO FUND ME with the goal of $60,000.  As we had noted in the original text, we are looking at paying possible medical bills in the hundreds of thousands: because we are still working with the hospital to determine what exactly we will need to pay, we are not in a position to share that exact amount, but the medical costs in combination of covering our immediate living needs while our business is struggling is sure to exceed the original goal of $60,00.  After a few people let me know/helped me figure out that our antidoted need and goal has been revised to $350,000.  Should our expenses not reach whatever funds were raised  in this Go Fund Me , we want to publicly pledge that the unneeded funds will be donated to the Tahoe Forest Hospital.  The hospital, it's staff and the spirit of this community is the biggest reason Mark is alive!  When your entire life has been spent as hard-working and independent individuals, it’s not easy to know when to ask for help. But when life has come at you from every possible angle, it’s time to put pride to the side and acknowledge that it’s okay to ask for help and understand that asking for help doesn’t mean looking for a handout. On the evening of March 29, 2020 Mark Redpath went to the ER experiencing severe symptoms that would come to be diagnosed as COVID-19. He was whisked into the ICU and before his family could even get a chance to tell them they love him, was placed on a ventilator two days later. He spent the following weeks fighting for his life and with little hope of making it through.  With multiple rounds of hydroxychloroquine, in combination with numerous chest x-rays, with pain killers like morphine, as well as steroids and a variety of other medicines were taking a toll on his body and causing him to suffer horrifyingly realistic hallucinations that have left him with lasting PTSD.  One of the things he had on his side on was his military athletic background (mental/physical fortitude and making the world a better place), that he was in superior athletic shape with strong lungs and an equally strong will. Though not expected to survive, Mark beat the odds and was taken off the ventilator after more than 2 ½ weeks, and 4+ weeks in the hospital miraculously came home to his family. He was out of the hospital but not out of the woods, with scar tissue in his lungs, continued muscle soreness, and chronic pain in his hips, back and joints, not to mention the PTSD.  All of them will them need months of therapy to get a handle on everything that has transpired.  With medical bills that are mounting into at least the hundreds of thousands, Mark, his wife Holly, and their twins Madison and Hunter (all of whom had COVID-19) are now faced with the prospect of losing their home and more.  As COVID-19 moved in and nonessential businesses closed. Their small handcrafted business has been devastated after months of lost income.  This was supposed to be their BREAK OUT year.  Due to cancelled retail shows, retailers closed and the need to focus on healing now, COVID-19 payment deferral periods are now expiring and bill collectors are calling looking for car and other payments. With only one vehicle, they can’t afford to lose their truck as it is necessary for the business. This family has been through the ringer and there is no end in sight. They have been so grateful for all the help they have received, but at this point they know that they can’t make it alone.  If it was not for all of this happening AT ONCE, things might be different.  But this is just TOO MUCH to handle…
Much thanks!
