The Red Thread: A solo musical

I have written my first musical play called THE RED THREAD. Essentially, it is a one-woman show with a band! This "coming of middle age" story features my original songs and it is a tale about love and self-love. It explores the tension between my acting and my ministry life, considers the "crush" as a guiding force, and paints a picture of an off-beat Filipino-American family. It is also an abstract meditation on the soulmate and the threads that connect us to one another. This is an effort many, many years in the making.

I have been given the opportunity to debut this piece at the Statera Foundation National Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Mainstage on October 4, 2018, at 7 pm. I have also been invited to present a workshop on October 5 at 11 am, where I will be teaching about sacred theatre and leadership.

This is an amazing opportunity to gather with hundreds of women to contribute to the gender-parity movement, support diversity and to share my heart and story in the company of some wonderfully accomplished women in the theatre, who care deeply about new works and new efforts to keep the theatre vibrant and alive. The conferences are held in a different city every year, so this is also a unique opportunity to collaborate with Milwaukee and Chicago-area artists.
The Statera Foundation is providing an awesome opportunity to share my work in a 350-seat, state of the art, 3/4 thrust theatre, and a university/conference audience to host and welcome THE RED THREAD. Since they are a new non-profit, however, they have no budget to hire the services of our team nor fully produce the show.
This is a rare opportunity, however, to carve my own path. We need to reach our immediate goal of $5,000 by October 4, so that we can cover for our expenses including my accommodations in Milwaukee/Chicago, props/costumes, travel expenses, equipment rental and the services of our team.
By sponsoring THE RED THREAD, you'll be supporting diversity in the arts, new works by women-of-color in the arts, the Filipino-American experience in the theatre, the gender-parity movement, GOOD MUSIC and GREAT POTENTIAL!
