The Reality of Cancer

Donation protected
Cancer…It’s that six letter word that you never want to hear in your entire life. Ronnie was diagnosed with Stage 3 Embryomal Carcinoma Testicular Cancer on Dec. 6, 2017. It’s a hard pill to swallow. Sitting in the emergency room you feel panicked, worried, and absolutely terrified. Where do you go from here? Well that is where Ronnie’s journey with cancer started. He had surgery on Dec. 4, 2017 to remove the testicle. After several scans post surgery it is apparent that Ronnie has another tumor in the back of his abdomen and nine nodules on his lungs. He started chemo on Jan. 2, 2018. It was a long day, but it went well. He will receive four cycles, each one being three weeks long. With no complications or illness he could be finished in twelve weeks. The take home message he keeps getting is, “It is extremely curable.”

Let’s back up just a little and start from the beginning. Ronnie and Janna were a “Match made in Heaven,” when they met three years ago on Match.com in January of 2015. It was rather ironic that they found each other. Through the years they’ve shared many adventures including vacations, camping, job loss, and the absolute joy of brining Caroline Rose into the world.

June 30, 2016 they found out they were pregnant and the preparation for Caroline began. It’s a new year and the most emotionally trying year of their lives. In Feb. 2017 they became parents. Caroline is the sweetest baby. She screams of God’s love for us on a daily basis. As they are raising a newborn the wedding was set for Sept. 2017. They had the most perfect wedding imaginable out at Gritt’s Farm. With rain in the forecast for an outdoor wedding God knew what he was doing. Plan B was to have it in a Greenhouse turned out way better than expected. It was magical. After settling into married life Ronnie thought he had pulled some muscles in his back. After being pestered by Janna and his mother, Donna, accompanied by a lot of pain he went to the ER. And this is where his fight for his life began.

With all of this being said Ronnie will not be able to work due to the type of work he does, carpentry. Janna being a teacher has become the sole provider for the family. What a way to start a marriage. They are now tackling raising a 10 month old, juggling marriage, and cancer at the same time. We all face trials and tribulations in our lives and this is a bump in the road for them. There are lots of things that will be needed in the coming months. First and for most is prayer. There is power through prayer. We serve a mighty God and the ultimate healer. Along with prayer we believe the Lord will provide. Any monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. This money will go towards any medical needs Ronnie has through the coming months and also for their family to help supplement Ronnie’s income. There have already been so many supportive friends and family members who have showed their generosity and kindness. They are so very grateful for all of the wonderful people in their lives. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers constantly and donate here if you feel led to or have the means to give.
Love Always…
