WORLDS 1st LGBTQ LULLABY ALBUM:The Rainbow Lullaby

Donation protected
My Name is Ryan Bauer-Walsh and I am working with Broadway Records on a lullaby album for LGBTQIA+ parents. It is a charity album with proceeds going to help queer youth.

A little backstory;
I started writing lullabies about 14 years ago in the hopes of one day becoming a father and having songs for me and my husband to sing to our children.
On October 28th my Mother passed away after a long battle with cancer. I spent the five months prior to her passing taking care of her, reading her books, inventing holidays, singing songs.

In my grief I thought a lot about the parent she was to me and again about the parent I wanted to become someday- and that gave me the push I needed to bring this album to life.

As a gay man, I feel it is my responsibility to create opportunities for queer cultural evolution that is accessible to all the voices within it. We lost a generation to the AIDS crisis and with those lives- we lost a generation of traditions and parents, and role models.

It is our turn to carry the torch and light the way forward- with new traditions and new songs.

About the album: The Rainbow Lullaby
The album is a "New American Songbook of LGBTQ Family Lullabies" by multiple composers award winning composers- featuring Broadway vocalists. By the LGBTQ+ Community and for the LGBTQ+ community.

-The funds will be used to pay performers, for transcribers, audio production and outreach.

-Each song is 1-3 minutes.

-Each song is either lyrically oriented in some way towards a queer family unit or is sung by two same gendered/Queer identifying parent(s).

-Each song will be voiced by some or all of the following instruments; Piano, Cello, Guitar, Glock/chime. We are limiting the voicing to these instruments to ensure continuity between each song.

-We are hoping to have over an hour of music for families to be able to hit play and not have to cycle the album too quickly.

-We are hoping to record this spring/early summer.

I have asked my friend, composer Fred Sauter (BedBugs) to help lend his creative voice as my associate producer, to the creation of this project with me and keep this train on the tracks. Together with Broadway Records we are reaching out to you and others to create an inclusive album, rich with the many talents of the Queer NYC and Broadway community.

We are currently working with Yaz Fukuoko, Bruce Coughlin, Mark Hartman, Andrew Gerle, Marty Thomas, Marissa Rosen, Adam Overett, David Dabbon, Andy Einhorn, Jason Ma, Jacob Yandura and Bobby Cronin.

I feel very passionately about bringing this into the world.
Thank you for your time and consideration-- I would be so grateful for your help.

Best,
Ryan Bauer-Walsh
