"The Trappe" A Documentary Film by Donald Baker

The road to completing this film project has been long but rewarding, difficult but fun. Ten years after my first interview, which was with the late Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, President Emeritus of The National Council of Negro Women, Inc., I have reached a point where I finally need to ask for financial support in completing this important piece of Black History that started in The Nation's Capital. Formerly known as "Chocolate City",  D.C. was the place to be for African Americans from around the nation, who were looking to move up to the next level after the devastating riots following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 4, 1968. I have interviewed many people from different backgrounds, cities and vocations, to tell the story of late 1960s Washington, D.C. and how The Foxtrappe Private Towne Club, a dream of William "Bill" Lindsay and Malcolm Beech, local C&P Telephone Company managers,  came to fruition in June of 1975 with the help of a third partner, Claude Roxborough, Esq. These stories about pre and post riot torn D.C. will make you think, smile and cheer the innovative spirit that inspired many to go on to great careers in private business, government, entertainment and education. I hope that you will see the value in having this important documentary as part of the history that makes our Nation's Capital so very special. I am also putting together hundreds of my photographs from the period of 1973- 1980 in online and hardcopy  book form. I am grateful for any support that you deem appropriate to help me finish this production before the Fall of 2019. Thanking you in advance and God Bless you all.
