Hello family and friends,
If you are reading this then you are probably already aware of the fact that we have been in the adoption process for the past four years. This process has led us through many trials and triumphs. We have completed what seems like endless paperwork and paid what, likewise, seems like endless fees. However, it has been worth every minute and every penny (and infinitely more!). In the second week of April we traveled to Bulgaria to meet Dani—our long-awaited and long-prayed for daughter.
Dani is a five-year-old, vibrant little girl who has already overcome circumstances that would drive many into despair. However, despair is the last word that would describe this little blessing. Life, joy, spunk, determination and zeal are just a few of the many descriptions that come to mind when I think of Dani. By the grace of God, we have received a court date for the finalization of Dani’s adoption in Bulgaria: June 12. After this we will receive our travel dates and be able to fly to Bulgaria and bring Dani home.
As many of you may be aware, international adoption is costly endeavor. After meeting Dani and hearing the story of so many other children who have been adopted over the past four years, we can confidently say that NO cost is too high to see these children receive loving homes! However—and this is the part where we are seeking your help—this doesn’t necessarily mean that are able to shoulder the entire adoption cost. We have managed to pay all of the fees associated with the adoption process, all of the agencies, providers and people involved in the process. All we need to do at this point is find a way to pay for our airfare to Bulgaria to get Dani and bring her home.
If you are receiving this letter it is because you have been a part of our family’s life in one way or another. Each one of us (Nate, Amanda, Suzannah and Josie) have been adopted into God’s family through our Savior Jesus Christ. And each one of us has been moved to share that love in this family through adoption. We long for Dani to know this love; to know this Savior. We are asking that you would consider helping us bring Dani home, helping us bring Dani into the realm where the gospel is known, loved and proclaimed in all of life. First, we would ask that you pray for us … really, really pray for us. To be entrusted with a young soul is an honor and responsibility that can only be fruitful through the grace of God. Next, would you consider financially helping us afford our airfare? Many of you are already a part of our family, you have been with us through many ups and downs. And while we do need to raise some money, we truly do cherish the opportunity for you all to play a part in this amazing new chapter in our life.
