The Place, Bedford has a proud history of bringing affordable, accessible community and professional theatre to our local communities. During lockdown we have worked tirelessly to ensure we meet COVID safety guidelines to enable us to reopen our doors as soon as it is safe to do so. This has included working on a plan to reconfigure our foyer area to make it more spacious to allow for increased social distancing.

In addition to this, we are faced with the need to replace our outdated, inefficient gas boilers which have heated the building since the theatre opened in 2003. With this in mind we have taken the decision to move away from a dependence on gas and to install  a new Hydro Unit which is more Eco friendly and which will more than halve our carbon footprint. We have been fortunate in raising 50% from the Climate Change Fund [the maximum available] so now find ourselves in a situation whereby we need to raise the balance of £9,500 in the next two months in order to satisfy the terms of that grant.

Please help us raise funds for the units and in doing so, contribute to our plans to enable us to re-open to audiences and bring community and professional theatre to the people of Bedford in a pleasant and comfortable environment.
