The Pirates Three Rivers Race Fundraiser For Hemsby Lifeboat

I'm raising money in aid of Hemsby Inshore Rescue Service better known as Hemsby Lifeboat and every donation will help.

As you all may know by now, I have followed Hornings Three Rivers Race for many years photographing and videoing the spectical by land and water to get as close to the action as possible with the dream and ambition to one year enter, just for the experience and fun of it and to tick it off my bucket list whilst im still young enough to attempt it. Late last summer that dream became a reality when I acquired a Wayfarer sailing dinghy and I am now entered into this years 65th annual race on Saturday 31st May.

The race is a 24 hour endurance sailing race covering the Northern Broads 3 rivers the Bure, Ant and Thurne, over a 55 mile course approx.

Once my entry was confirmed I thought why not make it something more than just my personal experience and enjoyment, why not start a gofundme and see if I can gather some sponsorship for taking part from my family, friends, and followers in the boating community for a local, independent, Broads based charity. After giving it much thought I decided the most appropriate charity would be Hemsby Lifeboat and their Broads based rescue service for their tireless efforts in trying to keep us all safe whenever we may find ourselves in trouble.

Hemsby Lifeboat as they are best known, is a voluntary lifeboat service. They are not part of the RNLI and rely solely on donations from the public and fundraising to operate both their Inshore Lifeboat and Broads Rescue Lifeboat.

They are regularly called out to help boats in distress on the broads and more recently, have had to assist in far to many long searches resulting in body recoveries, particularly over the last 2 or 3 years.

For this reason I think we should all club in together and show our appreciation as a community to thank the Hemsby crew for their tireless efforts and help this vital resource grow further. I cant promise we will complete the course given the ever changable conditions on the day and being first timers, but we promise to give it 100% effort. If we all could donate just £1 each or better still if you can, hopefully we can raise enough to make that difference.
