Who we are:
Allison Dyke + The Pink Electric was founded by choreographer Allison Dyke in 2018 with dancers Valerie Braaten, Abigail Corrigan, Zoe Kaplan, and Mariana Orozco Arango. Allison is a graduate of Elon University's dance program. She currently lives in New York City where she divides her time between choreographing, performing, and working as a freelance costumer. She founded the group on the belief that choreography exists in the bodies and minds of the artists its created with and that truthful art cannot be formed in a vacuum. Allison is deeply passionate about physical and visual story telling that explores the female experience and creating work that is meaningful and impactful for both the dancers and the audience.
You can find out more about our company here.
Hot Blood is a contemporary dance work that explores myths, legends, and history surrounding witches and the cultural impact that those legacies have on women today. Performed to an original score by Nicholas Black with vocals by Rebecca Robertson, Hot Blood is a moving meditation on power, sex, fear, and feminine rage.
Why we need your help:
Hot Blood is premiering at The Tank NYC on July 30th and 31st! We have spent over a year working on this piece and we're so excited to share it in its entirety with the world!
Up to this point, the creation of this work has been funded out of pocket (Allison's pocket) and putting on a show is expensive! The dancers have been generously donating their time and the The Tank is providing a free performance space, but there are still other expenses!
What you money will be used for:
-paying the artists (performance fees, composer fees)
-paying the technicians (including our photographer)
-rehearsal space rental
-printing costs for promotional material
Thank you for anything you can give!
We truly could not make this dream a reality without your support.
