The Film

'The Photograph' is a coming-of-age story of a teenage boy Julian who has to balance his studies and having a boyfriend, together with having to come home to his strictly Catholic parents, who do not know of his sexuality. This constant tension makes Julian stressed and as a result he gets bad grades which lead to constant fights with his old-fashioned mother, Susanne, who has planned his future for him.

Illya is Julian's supportive boyfriend, however he wants things to get a little bit more serious and wants Julian to finally tell his parents about them. Will their relationship survive the constant pressure?

Inspired by "Moonlight", "Ladybird" and other coming-of-age films, this project tells a story of the protagonist's emotional journey as they overcome their struggles in a trully outstanding way.

The Support

With the help of you support, we can take our film, that we will devote an enormous amount of time and effort over, and bring it to mainstream film festivals across the world. Your support can help us promote our film project and potentially gain some media attention. We guarantee that every donation made will not go unnoticed!

The funds will help us:
- Submit our project to film festivals (as most require entry fees)
- Cover travel and food expenses for cast and crew
- Cover location costs

We believe this film will tell an important story which can influence others and support the LGBTQ+ community. With your help, we can inspire the new generations!

Meet the crew

Hi, I'm Kara, the writer and producer of 'The Photograph' and I am a second year Film Practice student at London South Bank University. I am also a freelance videographer, photographer and a model and I have worked for London Fashion Week, Knucklehead and Audiowings. I am thrilled to have such a great team of filmmakers working with me on this project and I am looking forward to making sure the final result is better than expected.

I'm Adam, the director of 'The Photograph'. I have previously worked with production companies Blink and FiftyFifty Post. I'm a second year student at LSBU studying Film Practice and I am excited to direct this film, because I care about the subject matter and I want to be part of projects which mean something socially to me and others.

Hi, I'm Alba, the DoP of 'The Photograph' and I am studying 2nd year of Film Practice course at London South Bank University while also working as a Freelance Camera Operator and Video Editor for the London Fashion Week, One Plus and Rolzo. In this film we will be portraying real life through very cinematic aesthetics together with moving with and around the protagonist to show his side of the story.

I'm Sam and I am very excited to be working on this project, as the role of a gaffer. I am also thrilled to help Alba achieve her vision for the film. Having partaken in the role before, I feel that I can bring my past experiences to the project whilst also being very open to learning from the shoot itself.

I'm Jay, the editor and Colourist for 'The Photograph' and I am a second year flm practice student at LSBU. I have previously worked in small budget independent short films and have also worked on various music videos which have been uploaded to GRMdaily.
