Because of the confinement, Véronique Leroux's bar has had to remain closed for months. "La Cave de Gaston Leroux" suffered a considerable financial loss and is now on the verge of bankruptcy, threatened to close. Unlike what people might think, the Leroux family doesn't receive any money from their ancestor's books, since Leroux's copyright expired more than twenty years ago (he is now in the public domain). Gaston Leroux is the man who created the myth that became a phenomenal musical, that was turned into cult films and that inspired so many! Today, the placed dedicated to his genius is about to close down. It would be the end of this meeting point for Phantom lovers from all around the world. The end of a place where his descendants shares stories and souvenirs. The end of Montmartre's most romantic spot. Plus précisément à Montmartre, dans le bar de quartier tenu par Véronique Leroux, l'arrière-petite-fille de Gaston. Sa passion pour le génie littéraire de son arrière-grand-père l’a amenée à ouvrir en 1996 La Cave de Gaston Leroux, un lieu unique où les visiteurs du monde entier côtoient les habitants du quartier le temps d’un repas fait maison ou d’un chaleureux verre de vin. Un endroit où l'on peut s'asseoir parmi les objets de curiosité et les éditions rares de l'auteur du Fantôme de l'Opéra mais aussi des énigmatiques Le Mystère de la chambre jaune, Le Parfum de la dame en noir et de la série des Chéri-Bibi. En ces temps difficiles, personne n’est épargné, pas même le Fantôme de l'opéra, malgré son masque. Suite aux confinements, le bar de Véronique Leroux a dû rester fermé plusieurs mois. Les pertes sont lourdes, La Cave de Gaston Leroux est aujourd'hui menacée de faillite et destinée à fermer. Contrairement à ce que certains pourraient penser, la famille Leroux ne bénéficie d'aucun droit d'auteur sur les œuvres de Gaston Leroux, le romancier étant entré dans le domaine public il y a plus de vingt ans. Chers amis, le Fantôme a besoin de votre aide ! Gaston Leroux est à l'origine de ce qui est devenu un des plus grand mythes du cinéma et du théâtre musical.
