The Perry's Legal Aid Fund

My sister's young family has had quite the struggle in 2017, and I hope their story serves as a cautionary tale for anyone in the market to purchase a home.   Their life this year has been shoved into chaos through no fault of their own except for buying a home via all the necessary protocols.  Because of this, they've lived in 6 different homes and have had mounting legal battles and fees.

After putting their cumulative savings and 20% down on a home ($65K), their "dream home" was inspected on 3 different occasions (2 regular inspections, one pest inspection) and undertook all necessary protocol for the procurement of a property. After moving into the home and two days after giving birth to a beautiful baby girl, Tinsley, however, they quickly realized their "dream home" was plagued with termites that had penetrated the foundation making it unihabitable, in addition to structural (fire) damage from several decades prior. This further solidified the fact that hundreds of thousands of dollars had been wasted on an unlivable structure. What follows is that of a nightmare of legal "he said, she said" woes between past owner, inspection companies, insurance etc etc etc. They have had to carry two home payments at all times, one of which they will never live in, while keeping up mounting legal fees in hopes that they may receive some of their down payment back and be able to get out of the mortgage. This has been several months in the making and while my little sister and hubby have taken it in stride, I know it's weighing on them both psychologically and financially. Any little bit could help brighten their day and help them to feel the struggle is worth fighting for.

I hope this serves as a way to let Nicole and Matt and Fam know you care about them and are willing to help, or at least to help prevent this from ever occurring to another family again. Yes, this is a first world problem but what better way to get the word out on this injustice and help a new, growing family with their struggles. Life and our ups and downs are certainly all relative throughout, but it's vital to help those you love by brightening up their day however you can. God bless and thank you!
