Sharing his Journey.... His team of doctors call it " The Perfect Storm"
In a group text with his siblings back in August, John joked about how he had developed this rash on his face, neck, back and arms and it was only getting worse. After a few days of it not going away he went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis. This disease can develop on its own or as a result of cancer. Dermatomyositis (DM) is a long term inflammatory disorder which affects your muscles and causes weakness. As his symptoms worsened he was hospitalized and he underwent two biopsy procedures for cancer and much to our relief the results were negative. After following a treatment plan specific for DM, there were signs of improvement and we thought he was on the road to managing this incurable disease.
Unfortunately in December, his weakness began to worsen and his face, neck and arms began to swell significantly. After a visit to the doctor he was immediately admitted back into the hospital where another biopsy was performed amongst other tests. This time it came back positive for cancer. Not only is it cancer but also a very large tumor stopping the circulation of blood to his heart. You see, the medicine he was on to manage the DM masked the huge tumor that was growing aggressively on his lungs.
He now had 3 diagnosis...

Which created..... "The Perfect Storm"
We are devastated! This wonderful 58 year old man, whom I am blessed to call my brother needs help. He is a loving partner to his longtime love Joann, a father to Anthony and Nicholas, a step father to Amanda, a son, a brother and an uncle. John has always been a proud man, a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He has lived in the same community for many years and has worked for over twenty years with colleagues that he calls family.
As he is fighting this extremely tough disease his financial burdens are rapidly growing. Being out of work since August, he has exhausted all of his resources. Medical expenses, treatments, medications and monthly living expenses are adding up quickly. He has radiation everyday, chemo every week and multiple doctor appointments weekly.
Unfortunately we have reached a point where we need to ask for help to alleviate some of his financial burdens so he can focus on fighting this disease. If you are in a position to help John fight this battle, we would be ever so grateful. No amount is too small.
