The Pear Project

Hello and welcome to our Go Fund Me page. We are The Pear Project and we are a non-profit (501)c3 organization. We specialize in servicing returning citizens with the day-to-day mission to transform perception of returning citizens and the barriers they face.

For more than 10 years the PEAR Project has provided services to individuals in need. Our mission is to Prepare and Empower at risk individuals with life skills needed to become Accountable and effectively manage their Responsibilities. The PEAR's primary focus is reentry and the needs of returning citizens. 

Our primary goal for this fundraiser is to support a project we started in 2016 called "Project Backpack". Project Backpack is an initiative to address the needs of individuals recently released from incarceration. This project seeks to equip individuals with the necessary resources and support services they will need to reintegrate back into society. Backpacks will be distributed to recently released individuals filled with basic necessities, transportation tokens, a journal and informational re-entry packets. Some primary goals of Project Backpack are to encourage individuals to participate in re-entry programs, journal their struggles and successes, and give back to the community by helping others stay out of the system through their stories.

In 2016 we were awarded a seed grant by the Pollination Project and were recognized by the Huffington Post to start this initiative to help 30 individuals recently released from jail with initial support services. With your help we can continue this endeavor and our goal is help over 100 individuals in a 1 year duration. Funds raised by this campaign would help to sustain operations, support services and supplies.
