Hi, my name is Jonathan Meeks and I am the Development Director for The Palmetto School of Rock Hill.
The Palmetto School is a K-8 charter school sponsored by the Rock Hill School District. Since its opening in 2004, the school has been committed to providing quality instruction while giving attention to challenges that students may face academically, socially, and emotionally. It is an Arts Integrated School that also offers STEAM curriculum focus areas to expose students to music, dance, technology, science and fine arts.
The great success the school has had over the years can be largely attributed to donations from people like you. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity, and over 60% of the operating budget comes from donations. In addition to relying on donations, the school just received a budget cut of over 120k, creating a large void for our students and necessary operations.
Donations made to The Palmetto School are tax deductible and will contribute to overall operational costs, with a current focus on the following areas:
- Equipment for the students (including, but not limited to STEAM activities, physical education necessities, and technology)
- Buses for students-we serve students in Rock Hill, SC and surrounding areas in York County
- Our new and Permanent Location ( Currently leasing space)
- Staff and funding for a new 4K program that will begin in Fall 2023
- A new playground for the students (the current playground is outdated and limited)
