The Painter Album
Donation protected
This is the album art for the soon to be recorded full length album, “The Painter.” This will be my 17th studio album and, because of the economic slowdown caused by the pandemic, I could use help making this dream a reality.
"The Painter" is a song cycle about art, artists, love and life. The title cut is also for the theme song of the ongoing work on a motion picture script of the same name. The music was inspired by my efforts creating oil paintings at my log cabin in Kentucky. Merging music and visual arts like painting seemed natural. You can watch the 4-minute presentation of my painting gallery CLICK HERE
The album is planned for post-pandemic release in spring 2021. I plan on doing a national concert tour of art galleries and museums to introduce the original oil paintings and the songs of the new album. The album will feature the Martin 0000-28s acoustic guitar and Vega long neck banjo, graced with string quartets, mandolin, hammer dulcimer and flute.
Here is a live performance of one of the new songs called "Blues Tonight":
I've done simple folk albums, other albums with Odetta, Sam Bush, JD Crowe and others. I've done recordings like The Dream with huge symphonies and rock bands of Grammy winners. Recently full album releases with The Ohio Valley Symphony called "Songs of Rural America"and another called Legacy have been released. This will be one of the most passionate projects I've ever done.
"The Painter" CD will also be packaged with the final book of the WoodSongs series, WoodSongs 5 that will be released summer 2021
This is my first crowd funding campaign. Every $1, $5 or $10 helps out.
• Every $25 donation will get 2 free tickets to WoodSongs when we go back into production.
• Every $50 donation will get a pre-release copy of The Painter when it is available.
• Every $250 donation will get a copy of the book WoodSongs 5 including The Painter CD when it is released
• Every donation of $2500 will get all the above plus their choice of available paintings listed on MichaelJohnathon.com/art (the original framed canvas, not prints)
I hope you might be interested in helping out. You can get more information here MichaelJohnathon.com/ThePainterCD
