The Orca 100

Tax deductible
'The Orca 100' is an ambitious off-road ultra run aimed at raising funds and awareness towards Whale and Dolphin Conservation.  The 4 main goals are to: End Captivity,  Create healthy Seas, Stop Whaling, Prevent deaths in Nets

The challenge is an exciting team
attempt to run 100 continuous miles in 24hrs, whereby recreating the distance an orca might swim in a day.
It will begin in the early hours of Saturday 24th April and will be run throughout the 24hr period. The carefully mapped route which is navigated around the challenging hills of Calderdale and beyond, is split into 3 legs of just over 33 miles each. Each leg bears a name powerfully connected to Orca whales; Tilikum Leg, Blackfish Leg and WDC Leg.
The running pod is made up of mixed ability runners who will be completing a full leg or half a leg each. Within the pod also are members involved in logistics and fundraising.

The Orca 100 was inspired after 'pod' member Helen Curtis watched the documentary 'Blackfish', which highlights the plight of Orca's in captivity. Deeply moved by what she had seen, Helen decided she just had to help these beautiful marine mammals.
After discovering that Orca whales can swim up to 100 miles in a day, she hatched the idea of running 100 miles as a human 'pod' and approached fellow runners in her local fell running club. Whales, marine life and the ocean environment fall deep into peoples psyche, and the response was swift and enthusiastic. Within hours and days a 13 person pod was complete.

By doing this challenge we would like to raise as much money and awareness as we can, to help Whales, Dolphins and the earths precious ocean habitat and all life within it. We'd love your support in this challenge and hope you will help by donating to our wonderful chosen charity- Whale and Dolphin Conservation, who you can read about below. Thank you all for your support! The Pod x
