The Olotepesi Project

Tax deductible

The Vemoye Foundation is a UK based and Africa focused charity, whose main goal is to make education easily accessible to African children. We believe education is key in the development of children across Africa and their communities. The Olotepesi Project is aimed at helping children from the two Kenyan communities of Kisii and Kajiado who were directly affected by Covid to return to full time education.

The children from these communities come from low income families whose only sources of income were in livestock production, tourism, horticulture, and agriculture which has been stopped and in some cases has slowed down due to global changes such as, travel bans, national lockdowns and curfews all as a result of Covid-19. These families can no longer make as much money as they previously would have. As a result children of all ages haven’t received education for over 1 year and counting. Families are currently facing three main problems: 1. They are unable to afford schooling fees and equipment for their children due to no and insufficient income as a result of being out of work due to Covid restrictions, 2. Parents and guardians are vulnerable to the threat Covid poses in terms of health and 3. There is lack of governmental support in both cases. Education is privately funded and so is healthcare.

We here at Vemoye believe education is power. We aim to make education more accessible in order to empower the youth to further leave positive impacts in their various communities. This project aims to provide 20 secondary level children with the equipment they need to attend full time education for at least the next 1 year. This comes to a total cost of £4800. We would like to appeal to everyone to donate any amount that you can. Every little counts for a lot in the lives of these children. We believe that just like us, they have a right to be educated to a quality standard too.
