The Nubian people are an ancient people that lived as fishermen and farmers with the desert as their spiritual home for centuries. They have been moved from their houses and lands many times in the recent history. They have never really recovered from these relocations but still have a good spirit and good hearts.
Their villages need many things but they are struggling to maintain their environment due to lack of money, political will and understanding.
The first step which has already begun is to clean the villages of the rubbish and rubble that has piled up.
The villagers are working to collect the rubbish and the (small) government truck will take it away but we need money to pay for loaders and other trucks to take the rubble away. This will start to happen as soon as I have some funds.
Your help will set off a chain reaction of events. Cleaning the village, cleaning the Nile, protecting marine life and birds. To do these things will mean everybody working together: men and women. This is something very important in the Muslim world.
They are so enthusiastic about something being done they stop me in the street asking me if I can help them clean their street or village. Please help me make this happen.

I nubiani sono un antico popolo di pescatori e allevatori. Il deserto è da secoli la loro “patria spirituale”. In anni recenti sono stati spesso costretti ad abbandonare le loro case e le loro terre. Non si sono mai ripresi da questi spostamenti, ma mantengono uno spirito ottimista e un cuore generoso.
Nei loro villaggi c’è bisogno di molte cose, ma la conservazione del loro ambiente è resa difficile dalla mancanza di denaro, di volontà politica e di comprensione della loro situazione.
Il primo passo da compiere, già avviato, consiste nel ripulire i loro villaggi dai rifiuti e dai detriti che si sono accumulati.
Gli abitanti dei villaggi si stanno impegnando per raccogliere i rifiuti e un piccolo camion dell’amministrazione comunale li porta via, ma c’è bisogno di fondi per pagare ulteriori camion e persone che li carichino.
Quando sono arrivato mi sono sentito benvenuto e a casa. Vedere gli abitanti dei villaggi vivere in tali condizioni di povertà, ma allo stesso tempo constatare che sono così gentili e generosi, mi ha suscitato il desiderio di aiutarli per quanto possibile.
Il vostro aiuto sarà solo il primo passo di una catena di eventi: pulire il viaggio, pulire il Nilo e proteggere gli uccelli e le specie marine. Per raggiungere questi scopi tutti, uomini e donne, dovranno lavorare insieme.
Gli abitanti dei villaggi sono davvero entusiasti che si stia facendo qualcosa e mi fermano per strada e mi chiedono se posso aiutarli a pulire la loro strada o il loro villaggio. Aiutatemi a realizzare questo obiettivo!
