the Negi children in India

Donation protected
In November 2017, the Negi children were left without any family. Their father who had been struggling to support them with a difficult to treat leg infection died suddenly, and they are now left without any grandparents, parents, aunts or uncles. The eldest, Divesh (17), is now entirely responsible for the care of his two younger siblings, Vandna (16) and Koshal (14).

In India, there is no government support for a situation like this where children are left without parents. There are no social or government security programs, and the children have no other option than to accept not being able to afford schooling and to eventually beg on the streets.

I knew the children's father personally from previous trips to India, and Divesh contacted me in Australia with the heartbreaking news and yearning for some sort of support.

This is an excerpt of the initial message Divesh sent to me:
"[...] i want to give a good life to my brother and sister my sister dream was to become a banker and my dream was to become a engneir i will work hard as much i can do i want to fulfill everythings which my small brother and sister want

mostly i eat 1 time food since a long we are suffering from a problem

now i dnt have father and no mother i have 1 small brother and small sister am not yet 18 years old and now am lefting my study and searching a job to provide food for my brother nd sister

u jst close your eyes and imagine there is no one with us and we only three person m not so big m only 17 years old boy".

The children are currently living in a tin roof home without running water or a bathroom, and are cooking two flat breads per day each over a small camping stove.

Having done research and speaking with friends in India, we can support this family for $500AUD / month. My immediate goal is to provide the Negi children with three things:

1.) Independence to not have to beg for money on the streets, which is often dangerous.
2.) Basic food and shelter, including a small home with running water, bathroom and a kitchen.
3.) Continuing the children's education, including tertiary education for Divesh.

I plan on seeing these children in January 2018, and hope that I can be the source of light in this time of darkness. I am providing the most amount of financial support possible, but cannot personally provide them with the amount necessary to improve their home living conditions, primary, secondary and tertiary education which will lead to their eventual independence.  I have never used a Go Fund Me platform before and am open to receiving support for these children.

I am committed to remaining a support person in their lives and will venture to India twice each year. We are currently making certain that they are being provided with enough funds to eat.

Any amount of support would mean that these children can spend one less frightened day about their future.

I welcome you to help give these children the future that their parents and grandparents would have wanted for them. I am not willing to allow their lives to stay the way they are. Life is a gift and every dollar will count. I welcome your help. Karen Ellis
