The Munz family

Anyone who met Tom knows what an amazing father, husband, brother, son and friend he was. He was so creative, smart, funny, and such a loving person. He went into the hospital expecting it to be more of a routine ER visit: x-ray/ scan, find the problem, few days later be back home with his family.

Tom has always been a fighter with his life-long health issues. But this was one battle he couldn’t win. After 6 weeks in the hospital, on September 22nd, in the middle of night, Amanda, Chris (his best friend) and I, held hands and said goodbye to Tom.

Tom fought so hard to get home to his two little girls. He had so much love for his family! To say goodbye to him meant saying goodbye to a father who will never see his daughters again. Tom fought day in and day out to get home but the ARDS and the Sepsis was too aggressive and he could never heal. All the extreme measures: 2 surgeries - 2 weeks admitted to the hospital- 4 weeks spent in ICU - 4 weeks on a ventilator - 2 separate ECMO surgeries- dialysis- countless specialists - so much IV support, will come at a cost. An astounding number we have yet to hear the total cost from these two hospitals.

I started this Go Fund me for my sister-in-law Amanda to help contribute to Tom’s medical bills. Amanda is a stay-at-home mom to her 4 and 2 year old daughters, she is a former teacher, who will be raising their little girls alone. I wanted to provide some bit of financial relief to this family who has lost so much and whose lives will forever be changed.

Tom touched the lives of so many people and now it is our turn to give back to his family in their time of need. I know the power of community and how great it can be when we all come together to make a difference in someone’s life. Whether you knew Tom personally or not, we appreciate any support you can give to this young Munz family. It is going to be a tough road, but this is one thing that can make it just a little easier.
