Lane Morell is a loving husband and father of 2 young children, ages 10 & 13, who have had tragedy strike twice in two years. In November 2021, Lane had double pneumonia, which progressively worsened, resulting in treatment at a short stay at a local hospital. Within two days of being released, Lane started experiencing pain and fever and went back to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with flesh-eating bacteria, which spread to different parts of his body. Since Thanksgiving, Lane has been in the hospital and has undergone fifteen surgeries and counting. Lane’s children have been unable to share the holidays with their father, and COVID has prevented Lane from seeing his children. Lane still has to undergo extensive reconstructive surgery once the bacteria is removed, resulting in more surgeries, including skin graphs and comprehensive rehabilitation. Lane has a long road of recovery ahead of him, as per the doctors. He will not be able to go back to normal activities, which will affect all aspects of his life, including his ability to support his family. The medical costs associated with his nearly nine-week plus hospitalization, numerous surgeries and extensive rehabilitation has created a substantial financial burden for the family, especially for a small business owner. What makes this even more difficult was that in 2021, Lane’s wife Bettina recently completed 6 ½ months of chemo treatments and is now undergoing tests to determine if she is in remission from Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Please help the Morell family get through this difficult time by donating whatever you can to help pay for his surgeries and cover home expenses. We understand that these are challenging times; please keep Lane and his family in your prayers.
Due to the healthcare regulations in NJ, the family lost their health insurance because they own a small business and did not have enough employees to make them eligible for coverage under Obamacare. Additionally, COVID 19 has negatively impacted the family business as well. Unfortunately, the family has applied for and been denied NJ Charity Care.
