I absolutely hate having to write this for many reasons: The obvious one being that my father is gone and none of this would be an issue if he was alive. Another is that my friends and family have been so incredibly thoughtful and caring during this awful time in my life that I feel like asking for more is placing a burden on them. Pride and an unwillingness to accept any money from anyone has been my policy for most of my adult life.
The reality of the situation is that we are over budget. The bills are stacking up from the hospital, nursing home, hospice care and of course funeral and cemetery costs. My father had the smallest life insurance policy that does not fully cover these expenses. It’s with a heavy and humble heart that I reach out to those who have offered to help in any way and ask for a couple bucks to help alleviate the financial burden on me and my family.
My older brother Travis wrote a very nice obituary of my father and I would like to share it here as well as the funeral information in a link below:
Mitch was an adventurer who traveled the country and world with his family in search of experiences, knowledge and spirit. Despite setbacks and chaos throughout his life, Mickey never caved to despair. His unique brand of universal insight guided his soul and was shared with everyone lucky enough to meet him. He was a savant of understanding and while his lived experiences ran counter to the culture around him, throughout his life until the end he had a kind of peacefulness that surrounded him. A timeless pleasant personality tuned with a sharp wit. His family will always cherish his thoughtfulness, wisdom and kindness.
