The Michelle Smith Memorial Fund

In 2015, at the age of 29, Michelle Smith was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. For the next five years, Michelle fought this unforgiving and relentless disease without losing her sparkle. For every second of this battle her husband, Ross Smith, was by her side and holding her hand. During this time, he was everything he needed to be: Chauffeur, nurse, maid, landscaper, flower arranger, stylist, hair dresser, head shaver, hummingbird whisperer, dishwasher, crazy chicken dad, manicurist and, at all times, her adoring husband and number one fan. Ross and Michelle were genuinely the package deal: You never knew the one without the other.

In October 2019, the time came to send Ross and Michelle on a dream trip. Those who knew and loved them rallied together for a magical night, appropriately titled the “Dream Escape Fundraiser,” with the goal of facilitating their lifelong dream of taking a cruise through the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, a dream is all it remained. Upon arrival in Honolulu, Michelle was hospitalized, and they returned to Nevada upon her release. Ultimately, they were unable to complete that final trip.

On February 8th, 2020, with her one true love by her side, Michelle found peace from the battle.

Michelle was a uniquely vibrant young woman. Her good humor and infectious laugh could melt your heart and make your day. She was famous for her makeup tutorials accompanied by her chicken, Knucklehead. During her five year fight with cancer, not a single day went by without her trademark appreciation for the little things. Most notably, in all she did, ever-present was her brilliant smile and unwavering love for Ross.

For those of you who loved Michelle, know of her, or have a loved one experiencing a similar fight: We are asking you to rally one last time in her memory. This time, we rally in her honor to help support the love of her life, Ross, who is forced to navigate this new reality.

Please help us make Michelle proud and provide some reprieve from the overwhelming financial burden that five years of medical expenses can bring. If we can make just a few things easier for Ross, our goal here will be met. We truly appreciate everyone’s outpouring of love and support, whether or not you know this family personally. All donated funds will be provided directly to Michelle’s husband, Ross Smith.
