<div>On Tuesday, July 9th 2024, Michael Bell , aged 51, suffered a stroke. He was transported to the John Hunter quickly. Clot buster was administered in time, unfortunately for Michael, it didn’t work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Wednesday, July 10th 2024, Michael suffered a brain bleed. He was just a centimetre from death, the bleed didn’t hit his brain stem.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thursday, July 11th 2024, Michael had his first seizure due to brain swelling.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Neurologists advised his Mum and children, he may die. He could lose the ability to breathe on his own. If he was to turn a corner and pull through, he’d likely be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He proved them wrong! He got through his time at John Hunter Hospital then worked hard at rehab. But life will never be the same for him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Michael was a very social person . Spent most of his days off driving his children to work, sports, the beach, the park or kicking a footy or attending the footy games of 3 of his kids.
</div>
<div>He would make track marks at his kids footy games, walking the sideline to cheer them and their team on.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He worked full time driving heavy machinery at HVO, in the valley.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Fortunately, after 2 weeks in the acute stroke ward and 10 weeks in rehab, Michael has made it home. Spending Father’s Day and birthdays in rehab.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, Michael has been left with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and vision impairment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He will never drive again or work at the job he was passionate about.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, Michael was not covered for total personal disability or income protection through his super, due to being a diabetic. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So after many weeks of thinking, I thought why not do a fundraiser to help ease a little bit of stress.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Michael has 4 children who he adores and loves to be around.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He has always been an independent man who would jump in his car to take the kids to footy training, work, dance or take his mum grocery shopping. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Michael has been a maitland boy for his whole life. He’d be the first person to offer the shirt off his back, to anyone in need.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Holding a Michael Bell fundraiser will take a little bit of pressure of him while he navigates through this massive change in his life.
</div>
