The Matombo Village Project

The Matombo Village project started in July 2015. As a group of self-funded volunteers from Melbourne we managed to establish a pipeline to provide fresh, clean water to the village of Matombo, Tanzania. Returning in 2016 we achieved even more with the help and donations from our community. 

We were able to...
· Further develop our Water Project and extend the water pipeline by installing additional access points to make water more readily available.
· Install a water tank at the Matombo Secondary School.
· Refurbish the girls’ boarding house at the Matombo Secondary School; purchase new and repair existing mattresses, bedding and mosquito nets.
· Provide much needed medical supplies and a birthing bed for the village dispensary.
· Make and distribute sanitary packs to women and provided education on feminine hygiene.

In July this year we plan to return to Matombo and work collaboratively with the villagers to further develop projects and infrastructure. Our main focus will be to establish a Women’s Co-Operative within the village and begin some much needed maintainence in schools and important comunity buildings.
